E. coli non-O157 STEC
The food-borne bacteria, Shiga-toxin Escherichia coli (STEC), have the same toxin as E. coli O157 and causes similar disease. Eighty-five percent of the 36,740 annual U.S. illnesses from these bacteria are from contaminated food.
