Salmonellosis

An illness in humans caused by Salmonella (nontyphoidal). Common symptoms are nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, and sometimes vomiting. Although the illness is generally regarded as a relatively mild disease, death can occur in some cases, especially for the very young, very old, or immunocompromised. Salmonellosis usually appears 6 to 74 hours after eating contaminated food and lasts for a day or two.
